There’s something really special about helping a family settle into a home after a long season of waiting. This sweet family finally moved into their beautiful new build in Shore Acres after flooding in their previous home, and almost 1 year and 7 months later they are finally getting to enjoy the fresh start they’ve been waiting for 🤍 One of the first spaces we tackled was this drop zone near the entrance of the house. The goal was simple… create function for real everyday life. Mail and paperwork Kids hair accessories School and art files A catch all basket for all the random “junk drawer” type items because honestly we all have them 😂 We also created a more utility style cabinet with cleaning supplies, light bulbs and pet care items. One of my favorite parts was making a dedicated kids art drawer with coloring supplies her 3 year old will soon be able to grab on her own 🥹 The rest of the drawers are set up for real life too. Backpacks, kids socks and shoes and a dedicated drawer for beach towels. Honestly this is one of my favorite parts of organizing. Recently watched the Netflix documentary on microplastics and just thinking… man, it is HARD to live in today’s world sometimes!! There are so many things we’re told we should or shouldn’t be doing. What to eat. What products to avoid. How to parent “right.” How to help your child learn best. How to take care of yourself. Improve your marriage. Build muscle. Reduce stress. Age naturally but somehow also not age at all 😂 The list honestly never ends. And I think that’s why I care so much about our homes. Because while we can’t control everything, we can create a home that feels calmer, lighter, and less overwhelming. A space that supports us instead of constantly adding to the mental load. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to function better for your real life. And sometimes that’s the thing that helps everything else feel a little more manageable too ☺️.
